Reducing Childhood Drowning

Drowning is the leading cause of injury-related death among children between 1 and 4 years old. In addition, it is the third leading cause of death among children.  SECOND GRADE LEARN TO SWIM provides an 8-lesson program to second graders across the county. Each participant learns the essential water safety and basic swim skills to stay safe around water.

This program is especially important in Stanly County as we have two large lakes, multiple reservoirs, ponds, and rivers throughout our county. On average, 500 second graders graduate from our program each year.

Second Grade Learn to Swim is made possible through the generous gifts to the Annual Strong Communities Campaign and grants from local organizations, corporations, and foundations. Consider saving a life, GIVE A GIFT TODAY.
